Safe House Review.

FINALLY. This is the Ryan Reynolds the world has been waiting to see. We know he can play funny, that much is evident, but he has had the worst struggle becoming a dramatic actor. He had his chance in Definitely, Maybe, but that didn’t really work out for him.
In this film, he plays a vulnerable CIA agent, Matt Weston, who watches a Safe House. Whenever the CIA brings in the world’s most dangerous villain, Tobin Frost (Denzel Washington), all hell breaks loose as the safe house is stormed and ambushed, forcing Weston and Frost to escape.
This movie kicked ass. Plain and simple. Ryan Reynolds has evolved from the funny handsome guy, to the badass action hero. I like it.
Denzel Washington gave a great performance, it could even be compared to Heath Ledger’s performance as the Joker in the Dark Knight. He stays calm and collected throughout the entire film.
Between the car chases, standoffs, and fight scenes, this movie barely misses. My only gripe with the film is the predictable ending. This was a movie full of twists and turns, but the cliche ending kept it from getting a perfect score. Another gripe I had was with Ryan Reynold’s girlfriend in the movie. She is a french actress who is eerily similar to the late Brittany Murphy…Brittany Murphy was a God awful actress, so I will let you connect the dots there.
I recommend this movie, it is a good spend of two hours.
Final Score: 8/10
